Extreme-Environment &
Active Labels

Purpose-built labels developed for heat, cold, chemicals, outdoor exposure, washing, dissolution and defined visual indication requirements.

Plan Around the Real Use Condition

The right construction begins with the actual environment and the behavior the label must deliver. Temperature, contact, exposure and response requirements are reviewed before materials and adhesives are selected.

TEMPERATURE

Heat, Freezer & Cryogenic Use

Define the application temperature, operating range, exposure duration and temperature cycles the label will encounter.

CONTACT

Chemicals, Oils & Cleaning

Identify the substances involved, contact frequency, cleaning method and the time the label must remain bonded and readable.

EXPOSURE

Moisture, UV & Outdoor Weather

Review sunlight, water, abrasion, changing weather and expected service life against the actual application surface.

RESPONSE

Dissolution & Visual Indication

Define the wash-off or dissolution process, or the temperature condition and visible change the active label needs to show.

Performance Built Around the Use Condition

Once the operating environment or required visible response is defined, the material, adhesive, printed protection and finished supply format are coordinated as one label construction.

MATERIAL & ADHESIVE

Construction Matched to the Environment

Face materials and adhesives are reviewed against the application surface, temperature, chemical contact, moisture, outdoor exposure and required service period.

PROTECTION & RESPONSE

Printed Protection and Active Features

Ink, coating and lamination are planned around the expected exposure, while dissolvable or temperature-indicating constructions are defined by the required response.

VALIDATION & SUPPLY

Sample Review and Finished Format

Samples can be reviewed on the intended surface and use condition before die-cut dimensions, label spacing, roll direction, core size and packing are confirmed.

Extreme-Environment & Active Label FAQs

Practical answers about extreme temperatures, chemical and outdoor exposure, controlled dissolution, visual indication, and application testing.

What operating conditions should be defined before selecting the label?

Define the application surface, temperature when the label is applied, full operating-temperature range, exposure duration, required service life, and contact with moisture, UV, cleaners, oils, fuels, chemicals, or abrasion. Also state whether the label must remain stable, dissolve during a wash process, or produce a defined visual indication. These conditions determine the face material, adhesive, print protection, and testing scope.

Why are application temperature and service temperature different?

Application temperature is the condition when the label is first attached; service temperature is the range it must withstand afterward. A label applied at room temperature and then frozen can require a different adhesive from one applied directly to a cold, damp, or frosted surface. For high-temperature use, provide the peak temperature, exposure time, number of heat cycles, and whether heat is continuous or intermittent.

How should chemical, cleaning, and outdoor resistance be evaluated?

Identify the exact cleaner, oil, fuel, solvent, or chemical, including concentration, contact time, frequency, and whether the label will be wiped, soaked, sprayed, or washed. For outdoor use, define the expected duration and exposure to sunlight, moisture, temperature cycling, and abrasion. The face material, adhesive, ink, and protective layer should be tested together on the actual surface under a representative process.

How are dissolvable and temperature-indicator labels specified?

For water-soluble or dissolvable labels, provide the surface, storage conditions, required holding time, water temperature, wash duration, and the level of material removal expected. For temperature indicators, define the target temperature or range, exposure duration, required visual response, and how the result will be read. These are different functions, so each construction must be matched to a clearly defined activation and evaluation method.

What is the minimum order quantity, and can I order samples first?

Our standard minimum order quantity is 10,000 pcs. Small-batch sampling is also available before bulk production; customers are responsible for the sampling fee and shipping cost. For extreme-environment or active labels, the sample test should reproduce the actual surface, application method, exposure, and required response as closely as practical.
